Introduction

Hello,

My name is Colby Fraser and I attend Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island. Currently, my major is network engineering. I plan on changing my major to computer programming. My dream job would be owning my own programming company where I would subcontract projects. My expectations, however, are to be at least a lead project manager at a well-known company.

I have a few hobbies. I enjoy snow boarding and video games. I signed up for Ski and Snowboarding club here at school, as well as Psychology Club. I love riding my bike and BMX. Video editing in Sony Vegas Pro is fun as well.

I am from the small town of Pembroke, New Hampshire. I have lived in New Hampshire for my whole life, half of it in the city, the other in a town. I hope to gain needed knowledge to succeed in this industry from this class and future classes.

Business Blog

Blogging has become a popular source of information and recreation in the internet world. People are able to share information with one another through their customizable blog pages. With the availability of search engines, blog pages are easy to find with key words. The use of labels on blog post helps people find a blog post relating to the information they want to know. The more labels tagged to post, the more likely someone see the post. There are also other features that make blogging easy to share information. Pictures can be placed into post, as well as the background of the blog. Videos can be embedded into a post and the YouTube gadget allows a YouTube channel to be promoted within the blog. Hyperlinks can be added to text to direct the user clicking on the link to another website. This can be useful for businesses wanting to send customers from their blogs to their main web page. Comments can be added by users to post that give feedback of any type to the post owner. This also has business applications for customers to give feedback to a company on a product or give testimonials of a product. Another tool is the page view stats. Blogger gives statistics on views and from location if applicable. Businesses can then see who they are or aren't targeting effectively. Blogs can have multiple pages within the blog, which creates a website type atmosphere. Different layouts can be created to help or hurt the eye-catchiness of a blog. When someone finds a post or blog of their blog, they can share it on multiple social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Google +, and GMAIL.

Below is a presentation I made that shows the usefulness of blogs for businesses.

I wish blogs were more popular today. It seems society like more short snip-its of information than a whole post to read. Blogging has benefits for businesses, especially small ones because they can create a basic website for their company for free. Blogging can be used for customer feedback on products and if they need help using their products. For personal use, the only use I could find for blogging is to keep a journal of events or to build a professional blog resume.
